BDO Corporate Finance expands Dubai team

BDO Corporate Finance Middle East has welcomed three new permanent members of staff and appointed a regional senior advisor to the Dubai office.

Sam  joins as a partner following a successful year long secondment to the Barclays emerging markets business support team in Dubai. Sam moved to the BDO Dubai Corporate Finance office in August 2009 from BDO London, where he had worked since 2005. In the UK, Sam specialised in financial due diligence for private equity, banks & businesses and corporate restructurings. Prior to BDO, Sam worked in the corporate finance department of Ernst & Young for six years.

Ivan Woods - Director

Ivan joins as a Director to head up BDO’s infrastructure advisory team in the Middle East. He has worked in project finance and public-private partnerships (PPPs) since 1995, as both advisor and lender.  He moved to Dubai in mid-2009 as a consultant with the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank). During his time in the middle east, Ivan’s experience has included advising Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation on its Madinah Airport and Airport City PPPs and, as lender, underwriting over US$800 million in total to Saudi Arabia's Shuqaiq and Marafiq IWPPs, Qatar's Qatalum smelter and Mesaieed power plant, and Taweelah IWPP in the UAE.

Jason has worked in the Middle East for some 20 years. Since 2001 he has been corporate finance adviser to clients including the UK Government and many leading UK and Gulf based companies. Jason acts as a Senior Adviser to BDO and, among other roles, is the Special Representative of UK Trade & Investment for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Financial Services Sector, a member of the Saudi-British Joint Business Council, and is on the Middle East Council of the International Project Finance Association (IPFA).
